
Minyan Midbar — Shabbat & 2nd Day Shavuot
Minyan Midbar invites the community to a special Shabbat morning gathering celebrating the 2nd Day of Shavuot with soulful prayer, Torah reading, learning, and community. This expanded service includes Shachrit, Hallel, Torah reading, Yizkor, and a Kiddush Brunch and Learn with Rabbi Dov Gartenberg and Gabrielle Maisels. Families and children are warmly welcome, with dedicated children’s programming and opportunities for participation throughout the morning.

Segment Schedule (Adjusted for Shabbat on 2nd Day of Shavuot)
People are welcome to attend any or as many segments of the service. The service is longer than usual because of the convergence of Shabbat and the 2nd day of the festival of Shavuot.
- 9:00–9:45 Shachrit-Morning Service
- 9:45-10:15 Hallel-Psalms of Thanksgiving for the Festival
- 10:15–11:00 — Kiddush Brunch and Learn
- 11:00–11:45— Torah reading, Haftarah.
- 11:45-12:15 Yizkor and Concluding Prayers
- 12:15 Dessert and Shmoozing
Torah in the Middle: Kiddush Brunch and Learn Teachers and Topics 10:20-11:00am.
- Rabbi Dov Gartenberg: “How the Shema Yisrael Overturned the 10 Commandments: Tradition and Change.” In the South lobby.
- Gabrielle Maisels: “The Book of Ruth as Bibliodrama.” In the Fellowship Hall.
Schedule for Young Childrens Program 2-8
- 9:00 Supervised childcare in the rear of the sanctuary.
- 10:15 V’shamru, and Kiddush Rabba led by children (Lobby).
- 10:20-11:00am Children’s service in the nursery and conclusion of the young children’s program
Parents are welcome to bring their children to the Torah Service segment at 11am.

A Special Opportunity for Children 9 and Up: Minyan Midbar Page Announcer Stand.

We are introducing a “Page Announcer Stand” on May 23rd. It is used to announce the page in the prayerbook and the Humash, so it is easy to follow the service. The “announcer” can be operated by children 9 and up. If you have an older child who would like to serve as a “Announcer Operator”, please contact Rabbi Dov at shalom@rabbidovnm.com.
